On-Line Continuing Education Courses

 

OBHS is sponsoring CE credits to behavior analysts, psychologists, and school psychologists for taking brief courses or reading published articles.  All OBHS CE Certificates are emailed to participants.

 

You may use your credit card via Pay Pal for ordering the Continuing Education items. After you complete the Pay Pal transaction, return to the Orlandobehaviorhealth.org website to download your course(s). OR You may use regular mail to send a check and registration form to us if you prefer. We will email the course(s) to you.

 

Newest Course –MDT - Mode Deactivation Therapy (for Psychologists) by Jack Apsche EdD ABPP  for 10 CE credits. (See #6 in the list below.)

 

1. Read articles from selected journals (web based) and submit the answers to our questions to demonstrate that you have read the article.  Articles are worth one CE credit each- 13 available.  Click here for details and how to order.

 

2. Ethics and HIPAA CE course by Michael Weinberg, PhD., BCBA-D.  This is a 3 CE credits Ethics course for Behavior Analysts (certified by the BACB) and Psychologists.  HIPAA is a federal law pertaining to confidentiality of paper and electronic client/patient information and records and includes procedures and penalties pertaining to patient personal medical information.  All BCBAs/ BCaBAs as well as psychologists must be aware of this federal law, how it affects you as a "health care practitioner," procedures required for ensuring confidentiality of client medical records and personal health-care information, and potential penalties for violating these laws. 

 

HIPAA is a federal law and supersedes state law protecting healthcare information, and ethical standards of professional organizations.  Now is the time to complete this home-study course and obtain your Ethics CE credits to be fully informed about these laws and how to protect client confidentiality under the law.  Click here for details and how to order.

A Dozen Mistakes and Oversights Behavior Analysts Make and How to Prevent Them” by William Marsh, MS, BCBA.  This one CE credit course is available directly through OBHS.  Read the course, answer the questions, and take a brief survey.  Send the results via email to receive your Certificate for 1 CE Hour from OBHS.  Click here for details and how to order.

 

5. Punishment & Child Discipline:  Facts, Myths & Principles. This BCBA & Licensed Psychologist Course worth 6 CE credits is available on line. Authored by Ennio Cipani, Ph.D., the course provides the professional with a conceptual knowledge of punishment, contrasting a procedural versus outcome-oriented definition. The book, Punishment on Trial: A Resource Guide to Child Discipline (free on-line) is the main source of the material for the course. This book presents the reading material in the form of questions (like a trial attorney would to an expert witness), and then provides empirical research and many real clinical examples from the author’s work as a licensed psychologist for 26 years in California in child behavior analysis and therapy.

 

Upon completion of the course, the participant will also receive a gift, a PDF electronic copy of Dr. Cipani's instructional material; The ABA in-home math program, which covers objectives spanning pre-school to basic early elementary grade level skills. It is our way of saying "Thank You!"

Mode Deactivation Therapy (MDT) for Aggression and Oppositional Behavior in Adolescents: An Integrative Methodology Using ACT, DBT, and CBT 10 CE Credits for Psychologists by Jack Apsche Ed D ABPP.  MDT is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Jack Apsche based on Beck's theoretical constructs of modes. This approach has been shown in a number of research studies to be effective for adolescent males with aggressive and oppositional behavior.  Purchase the book ($38.21 on Amazon), follow the program and answer 30 multiple choice questions.
